The 1895 Clapboard-style home where Ralphie Parker and his family resided even comes equipped with the iconic leg lamp. Talk about owning a piece of movie history!
If that wasn’t enough, you’ll be interested to discover that the entire campus of A Christmas Story-themed buildings near the home are also on the market and come with the house. This includes The Museum, a detached garage that boasts the biggest collection of props, costumes, behind-the-scenes images and other items featured in the movie. You can even find a 1939 Ford LaFrance fire truck in the adjacent garageāidentical to the one you see in the beloved film.
In addition to the house and museum, you also get the gift shop, which is 4,000 square feet, the neighbor’s house, several lots and rental property. The History of the A Christmas Story Home
The property, which was purchased on eBay in 2004, has since undergone a major renovation to recreate its movie-era appearance. In 2004, it was bought by Brian Jones, a California resident who described himself as a “super fan” of the movie since he was a kid.
After restoring the home, Jones opened it for tours so other movie buffs could experience the magic of the A Christmas Story house themselves. Since the tours opened in 2006, over 1 million people have visited. And thanks to Jones’ restoration efforts, the new home buyer will enjoy the legendary A Christmas Story house as it appears in the classic film.
In an interview with 3News, Jones demonstrated just how seriously he’s taking the process of finding the new owner. “It’s an interesting property to not only own, but you also have to take care of as a piece of Americana,” he shared. “It’s going to be an interesting journey.”
How Much Does the A Christmas Story House Cost?
Though the house was purchased for $150,000 in 2004, you won’t be able to find a price tag on it today. If you’re interested in buying the home, you’ll need to sign a confidentiality agreement and be deemed a “qualified buyer.” Unfortunately, Hoff & Leigh, the real estate team responsible for the sale, is unable to provide details about how much the property may cost to fans. We’re guessing it’s a pretty expensive home. It’s safe to say this is one of the most interesting real estate listings we’ve ever seen!
