Handy Handsaw

A handsaw can do more than cut wood. Here are two new strokes:

Cut Sandpaper Perfectly

Use the saw to cut sandpaper into custom-sized sheets for sanding blocks or power sanders. Fold the sandpaper on the desired tear line, press the fold against the teeth while holding the saw down flat on a work table, and pull up. Thanks to J. R. Stephenson for this cutting-edge idea.

Mark Precise Angles

mark angles with your handsaw

Turn your saw into a square for tracing a cutting line. Mark lines at 90 degrees and whatever other angles you may want to cut across the face of the saw’s blade, then line up the marked line with the board’s edge and trace the cutting line using the back edge of the blade.
