This adjustable height sawhorse will help you work with longer boards on every power tool in your shop. It’s made from good old 1-1/4 in. PVC pipe, a couple of 1-1/4 in. tees and an old sawhorse with a wood cross member you don’t mind drilling holes through. Keep in mind that you can substitute 1-1/2 in. pipe and fittings if they aren’t available in 1-1/4 in.
Drill the riser holes on the top of a sawhorse with a 1-5/8 in. hole saw, then wrap a strip of adhesive-backed 100-grit sandpaper around the hole saw. Sand the holes to increase the diameter a smidgen so the risers slide up and down with no side-to-side play.
With a hacksaw or bandsaw, cut the top third off the tops of the tees the long way (don’t use a table saw). Mount them on the risers and snap in a length of PVC for the horizontal support. Drill 1/2-in. holes in the risers to match the various heights of your power tools, and tap in a 1/2-in. dowel to lock the height adjustment. Now you can put your revitalized horse to work.
