Stores that Require Face Masks

As restrictions loosen and various places begin to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic, companies are trying to navigate how to resume business while keeping customers and employees safe.

Regulations concerning wearing face masks differ from state-to-state and even city-to-city, but some stores have made it mandatory to wear face coverings. Read on for the stores that have made it clear they will not serve anyone who doesn’t have their nose and mouth covered. The Home Depot

The Home Depot announced that beginning on July 22, 2020 all its stores will require customers to wear face masks or facial coverings. The Home Depot already required employees to wear face masks.

In a statement, Ann-Marie Campbell, executive vice president of stores for The Home Depot said, “We appreciate all of our associates who have been working so hard to serve our customers with the essential products they need throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and we want to thank our customers for their cooperation as we work to protect everyone in our stores”. Plus, this is the best time to go to The Home Depot.

Costco

According to a statement issued by Costco, to protect guests and employees, everyone entering the premises must wear a face covering that covers their mouth and nose at all times, effective May 4. These are the 35 products DIYers shouldn’t pass up at Costco.

Menards

Menards is also requiring all guests and team members to wear masks while shopping at all store locations. If shoppers don’t have a mask, Menards will have single masks available for purchase for a nominal charge at the service desk by the store entrance. Target

Some Targets across the country may refuse service to customers without a face mask, but will post signs announcing whether face covering is required. A Target representative told TODAY, “We are encouraging healthy hygiene habits among guests, as guided by the CDC, and in areas where local governments are asking residents to wear masks, we have added signage and stationed team members outside stores to remind guests to wear masks while shopping.”

Lowe’s

Lowe’s also required customers to wear face masks or face coverings in stores beginning on July 20, 2020.

In a statement Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO said, “As a retailer offering essential goods, we have a responsibility to our associates, customers and small businesses in communities nationwide to help provide a safe shopping experience. Throughout this pandemic, our associates have worked tirelessly so customers could get the goods and services they needed for their homes and small businesses. For the safety of everyone in our stores, we ask that customers wear masks, and to make this new standard less restrictive, we will make masks available to those who need them.”

Walmart

As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose in communities across the United States, so too have the number of stores requiring face masks. Walmart announced they will require all customers and employees to wear face masks in stores beginning July 20, 2020.

In a press release, Walmart’s Chief Operating Officer, Dacona Smith said, “While we’re certainly not the first business to require face coverings, we know this is a simple step everyone can take for their safety and the safety of others in our facilities.”

Whole Foods

A statement issued by Whole Foods states, “We are requesting that all customers wear masks while shopping in our stores to protect the health and safety of our team members and communities. Whole Foods Market will be providing face masks at the entrance of all stores for customers who do not have their own face covering.”
