One of the simpler upgrades any homeowner can tackle is putting a fresh coat of paint on the inside or outside of their house. Today we look at four items that will make your painting projects easier to accomplish. A lot of pros rely on these painting accessories and we at Family Handyman love them too! Editor Mike Berner will show you these essential painting products in the following video. Then read on for further product detail.
Venom Steel Rip Resistant Gloves
We’ve been stocking our Family Handyman Shop and Studios with these gloves lately and we can’t say enough good things about them. They pull on and off easily, they’re fully textured for a great grip, and they really hold up with multiple uses. It’s pretty bold to market a nitrile rubber glove as rip resistant, but we put these to the test and only a sharpened point or blade would penetrate the six-millimeter material. These are great painting gloves but they’re plenty tough enough for automotive work, construction, plumbing and more.
Behr Simple Pour Paint Can Lid
This is one of those “Why didn’t they think of this before?” innovations. The simple pour paint can lid means you don’t need a tool to open your paint can. It eliminates those runny drips on the side of the can, and will keep your paint fresher longer. It’s available only with Behr’s Marquee paint but we’re hoping it will soon be standard issue with all Behr paints.
Handy Paint Pail
Dropping your paint bucket is the last thing you need. Using the Handy Paint Pail will better ensure that won’t happening. The adjustable strap wraps around your hand, making for a comfortable goof-proof grip. A handy magnet inside the rim will keep your brush from falling into the bucket. The best parts: The washable paint pail liners that make clean-up easy and allow you to work with different paints simultaneously.
Purdy Brush and Roller Spinner
To get your brushes and roller covers really clean, spin them out with this Purdy Brush & Roller Spinner. This simple tool provides a fast, easy way to remove excess coatings and moisture from your brush filaments and roller cover fabrics. The cleaner and dryer you get your brushes and rollers, the longer they’ll last. This is a well-built tool with a smooth running ball-bearing design that fits most paint brushes and rollers.
